Despite the fact that the General Assembly failed to approve the text of the text of the two resolutions, the UN Secretariat continues to work on improving our ability to deliver on the reforms identified in the text. To that end, some of these activities are being coordinated by the UN Division for Sustainable Development Goals in the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. This Division operates under the UN Department for Political Affairs and has mandated responsibilities in the implementation of the overall goals, including to underline the continuity between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
The UN Division for SDGs is working with teams of experts across the Secretariat to complete our work on implementing the accountability framework as well as improving our delivery of sustainable development. The UN is 6 months into that initiative. We are working on the 2018-2020 annual report as well as the UN Transition Report, both expected in April 2019.
At the end of September 2018, in the context of her Mission to the UN at New York and the 54th session of the General Assembly, Ministerial Watch represented by Mr. Karel van Oosterom is host to a ministerial-level conference on the subject of “Developing a shared approach to sustainable finance - Reform of the United Nations”.
The process was led by the High-level, Discussions, which was supported by the UN Head and the Member States Chairmanship. On this basis, the two Reports are being presented to the 54th session of the General Assembly and their implementation will be discussed. d2c66b5586
